Uber is more environmental friendly than a traditional taxi service.
Recently, the world’s largest ride-hailing company Uber conducted the second Go-Get Zero event to promote sustainability. It revealed that it can now commission enough drivers who own electric vehicles (EVs) to allow an all electric service.
An all-electric service
Uber Green will be priced as much as UberX and begin in 40 cities, but the company did not say when it would expand the option to other regions. Some of the cities to be covered are New York City, Los Angeles, San Francisco Cities in France, Australia and New Zealand. The users will also be able to select the option of using EVs for their trips as well. If available, one will be provided with an EV but if that is not possible a gasoline vehicle will be offered to them.
Green measures for better travels
In parallel, Uber has “pop up occasions,” where users will be able to try to order specific EV premium cars such as the Lotus Eletre in London or Rivian R1 in Los Angeles. Users will also be able to see how many grams or liters of emissions they have saved by taking a shared bike, scooter, UberX, etc through an update to emissions saving functionality.
Uber Eats is also committed
In the food delivery segment, Uber Eats presently lets you order groceries from farmers’ markets in New York and Los Angeles. It also provides a showcase of a set of beauty products from brands like Credo Beauty, Allbirds, L’Occitane etc are segregated as ‘Climate Friendly’. Also the Uber Eats continues to make restaurants use sustainable packaging for their foods.
Backing for drivers in the process of moving to electric cars
While others motivate its users to select less emitting options, Uber does the same. The company also has instituted a program that will help their drivers transition to electric vehicles.
