The Long Road to PC Release
Originally launched in 2010 on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Red Dead Redemption is now considered one of the greatest video games ever made but, ironically did not release on PC for years to the anger and disappointment of this audience. Even though fans have been requesting PC version for decades, there was no definitive word until Rockstar Games studio released the game to consoles in August 2023, including PS4 and Nintendo Switch.

With a release scheduled for October 29, 2024 on PC, gamers can expect significant graphical improvements and optimization tailored to today’s powerful machines like native 4K resolution, the ability to use ultra-wide (21:9) and super ultrawide (32:9) displays, full keyboard and mouse support, upscaling of Nvidia’s DLSS 3.7 and AMD’s FSR 3.0, Nvidia’s DLSS image generation or even an adjustable draw distance and shadow quality settings.

The PC version will also incorporate Undead Nightmare, the popular single standalone DLC that turns the Red Dead Redemption world into a zombie irradiated wasteland. This DLC has impressed with the invented environment and new tasks, which will be available to new players on the PC.
The excitement (and scepticism) about this late addition
This is welcome news to many fans but many are also asking why it has taken Rockstar Games this long to chose to meet demand. Others accuse the publisher of neglecting them to invest in other projects to the extent of forgetting that Red Dead Redemption was once a darling among gamers. However, it is possibly for a good reason, and the excitement is very palpable, for both those PC gamers, who never had the possibility to try this masterpiece.
